The first day of the 2019 Wesbank Festival of Motoring started with much fanfare and excitement as Haval Motors Southern Africa started the week long trade show with a press conference on their world class purpose built exhibition stand in the main pit building of the infamous Kyalami Grand Prix circuit just outside Johannesburg.
South African media from a variety of platforms were present together with Haval staff and Haval Dealers from all over the country. Festivities started off with Mr Charles Zhao Managing Director of Haval Motors South Africa addressing the guests, sharing the fact that Haval H2 is fast growing to be one of the most popular compact segment SUVs in the South African Market currently holding the second spot in retail sales so far in 2019. Sporting a 5 star ANCAP rating making it one of the safest SUVs on the road the H2 truly is a star in the range. Mr Zhao also compounded the efforts of Haval SA by announcing that an average of two dealers per month has been opened since the brand started trading in South Africa two years ago with 53 official dealers being open for business at present with a further four more being opened before the end of the year. It was reported too that Haval SA had celebrated a sales increase of 50% year on year in contrast to a decline in vehicle sales of 4% for the first half of 2019 according to NAMSA. He added that on a global front, Great Wall Motors has and is building on a massive R&D investment exploring new technologies to even further create a range of SUVs that are truly at the cutting edge of new technology and safety.
The main attraction of the event was the unveiling of the 2020 Haval H2 Facelift expected to hit South African dealers in the early part of the second quarter of 2020. Two versions sporting brilliant red and bright blue were unveiled to the applause of everyone present.
