• Eclipse shines as top seller for MMSA
  • Zero Deposit campaign still running
  • New 1.5 TURBO petrol on MMSA customers’ lips

The latest 1.5-litre turbo-powered addition to the already popular Mitsubishi Eclipse range that made its local debut last year, has helped the Eclipse Cross to take over as top seller for Mitsubishi Motors South Africa.

The all-new Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross 1.5 TURBO is rapidly driving out of MMSA showrooms all over the country thanks to its gutsy performance, stylish design and outstanding value for money, hot on the heels of its 2.0 GLS CVT AWD sibling offered at no deposit and 72 months to pay.

“Although the Eclipse Cross was a hit from the word go, the latest model is shining as one of the top-selling models in the MMSA range,” says Nic Campbell, General Manager of Mitsubishi Motors SA (MMSA). “The Eclipse Cross is attracting lifestyle-orientated buyers jumping to get their slice of its outstanding value, which is even more popular thanks to our ongoing assistance deals.”

The Eclipse Cross 1.5 TURBO is the first car in the range to be powered by the new 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo engine – designed and built to “impress and excite every time, all the time”.

Virtually identical to its 2.0-litre big brother, the new Eclipse Cross 1.5 TURBO boasts the same advanced “DYNAMIC SHIELD” front-end design, and has sporty and dynamic looks while offering the same, extensive equipment and outstanding safety features as well as two new body colours.

Mitsubishi Motors’ full safety package is found in all Eclipse Cross derivatives, including 7 airbags, side-impact protection bars and ISOFIX child seat anchors.

Sporty features

Capturing the interest of more and more buyers, the Eclipse Cross boasts a variety of modern features – some hidden under the skin; some out in the open.

Every detail in the meticulously crafted sporty cockpit of the Eclipse Cross has been designed to enhance the driver’s awareness and control to make driving feel more natural and intuitive with direct, linear response to every command.

These include:

  • Anti-theft protection device for added security,
  • Keyless operation for easier operation,
  • A rear-view camera, furthering improving driver safety,
  • 0L MIVEC engine developing 110 kW @ 6 000 r/min of power and 198 Nm @ 4 200 r/min of torque,
  • 5L Petrol Turbo-charged engine developing 110 kW @ 5 500 r/min of power and 250 Nm @ 3 500 r/min of torque.
  • Automatic CVT with shift control, supporting smooth and powerful acceleration, as well as outstanding fuel efficiency.

Popular choice

The compact Eclipse Cross range has proven to be a popular choice for younger families, single professionals as well as young men and women at the start of their careers. Many are recurring buyers, adding a new model to their family.

The 2.0-litre version is offered with no deposit and a linked interest rate of just 5,41% over six years, while the 1.5 TURBO flies in at the R469 995 mark.

“Many buyers took advantage of the 0% offer to get behind the wheel of one of our compact SUV’s starting from just *R4510 per month,” says Campbell. We are constantly striving to meet customers budgets and have a range of finance options available

“Our added value offering of no deposit for the Eclipse Cross 2.0 GLS, which is available in two-wheel and all-wheel drive, has been extended and is still available,” says Campbell.

Part of the popularity of the Eclipse Cross is the wide range of colours, including the new blue and silky white, which are based on customer research,” says Campbell, confirming the close relationship MMSA’s dealers have with their growing South African customer base. “The most popular colour for the Eclipse Cross 2.0 is Diamond White, while many buyers of the 1.5 TURBO chose Diamond Red as their favourite colour.”

The Eclipse Cross is produced at the Mizushima Plant in Japan and fully imported.

“According to our dealers buyers absolutely love the ‘style with purchase’ design approach, including outstanding features such as the Head-up Display allowing the driver to see all relevant dynamic information at a glance,” states Campbell.

“This improves safety – something that is at the core of Mitsubishi Motors – as drivers do not have to take their eyes off the road,” he adds.

All Mitsubishi models are covered by the same Mitsubishi’s Manufacturer’s Warranty of 3 years or 100 000 km, a 5-year / 90 000 km Service Plan and 5-year / unlimited mileage Roadside Assistance.

Service intervals for each of the Eclipse Cross favourites are every 15 000 km.
